RHBC Moves to rhbc.co

The Rock Hoppers have a new domain! You may have noticed that the long rockhoppersbrewclub.com has been changed to the much more succinct rhbc.co.

This is the first step in the RHBC website revamp. Keep on the lookout for a new site design and additional features for members.

Cheers!

2013 Iron Buddy Brew Winners

Iron Buddy Brew

We Have Our Winners!

Congratulations to the team of James Devalios and Jim Allen for winning the popular vote with their Stout brewed with cumin, oranges, and doughnuts!

Thanks to all who participated and shared their brews with the club. Every beer that was presented was unique and well done.

What is the Iron Buddy Brew?

As a new annual tradition, participants will work in pairs (consisting a new member and a veteran member) to build a recipe and collectively brew a beer.

Each pair must incorporate at least three of the “secret ingredients” drawn randomly from a collection that includes fruits, grains, herbs, spices, wood, and other interesting foodstuffs.

The base beer can be of any style.

At the September meeting, the resulting brews will be judged by the club to determine an overall favorite.

The procedure is as follows:

  • Participants sign up on May 9, 2013.
  • Participants will be informed of the pairings via email.
  • During May, June, July, and August, participant pairs craft their recipes, brew their beer, and package.
  • At the September 2013 meeting, the club will determine the winning brew by popular vote.
  • Winners will coordinate with Kjell to determine a brew day at the Rockyard.
  • All brewers are invited to share their creations with the club at the annual Hop-o-Ween Party in October.

Cheers and good luck to all brewers!
