RHBC Bulk Grain Buy 2014

Order has been placed!

As mentioned in the meeting last night, thanks to Eric at Castle Rock Homebrew Supply, we are able to place a club bulk grain order.

A Google Drive Spreadsheet will be used to track/place orders and payments will be collected via our website ONLY:

  • Go here follow the directions to create your own order tab in the spreadsheet.
  • Add quantities for your desired FULL bags of grain.
  • Your order total will be in the yellow cell (this includes tax/processing).
  • Follow the link in the spreadsheet to pay for your grain.

*Please note, split bags cannot be accommodated. If you wish to split a bag, please make the necessary arrangements with a fellow Hopper as to who will order the full bag.

Ordering is open through July 15, 2014. All payments must be made prior to placing the order with Castle Rock Homebrew Supply. No payment = no grain!

Order away!

GABF Beer Geeks Needed!

homer beer

Do you like beer?  Do you brew beer?  Are you knowledgeable about beer?  Do you like researching and sharing your knowledge about beer?  Well this opportunity may be for you!  If you would like to volunteer to “work” at least two shifts of the 2014 GABF as a beer geek, you will get a free pass to one session of the 2015 GABF.  See more details below:

GABF Beer Geek Volunteers Needed

The GABF Denver Hoppers pouring team needs volunteers for the 2014 festival October 2-4.  We are in need of knowledgeable home brewers (“Beer Geeks”) to provide information to patrons when the brewers are not present.

In past years Beer Geeks were recruited and staffed by individual pouring teams (such as mine).  That will continue, but in addition there will now be a separate team of beer geeks, managed by Matt Rawling, that will rotate among all of the islands providing support where needed.   I still have the option of staffing my own beer geeks on my team, which I intend on doing.   You have the option of either volunteering for my team of for Matt’s team.

On my team you would be able to focus on a moderate number of breweries enabling you to research them and become knowledgeable on their beers.  I don’t know how Matt will arrange his team, but you would possibly be responsible for more breweries but you would also get to experience more of the festival.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Volunteer Requirements

There are four shifts, one on Thursday and Friday & two on Saturday, and you must work at least two shifts.  Working three shifts earns you a comp ticket to the 2015 festival, four earn two comps.

Next RHBC Meeting is May 8th 2014

Big Brew is coming soon! Mark your calendars – May 3, 2014 starting at 8:00 AM.

Once again, this year the Rock Hoppers will be brewing for Big Brew Day at The Rockyard’s production facility [Map], which is just south of the brewery/restaurant.

The Rockyard has again offered to donate base (pale) malt, hot water, and yeast for those that want it.

If you plan on brewing please contact Jeff Gilbertson with your requirements for pale malt by April 27.
