Goatshed Beer Revival Competition Results – Kjell Wygant Wins BOS!!!

Congratulations to Kjell Wygant, RHBC President!

Kjell was woken from a nap today by a phone call from our friends at Boulder Beer. He has won Best of Show for this year’s Goatshed Revival with his Saison. He’s heading to Boulder this Sunday to brew a big batch with the brewer and it should be on tap in their tap room mid-August… hmmmm, sounds like a Hopper road trip.

This isn’t the first time either, the photo of Kjell on the right is the man himself taking a sip of his winning stout entry brewed by Dry Dock brewing in Aurora.

Here’s a link to his recipe: http://logs.rockhoppersbrewclub.com/index.php?page=brewBlogDetail&filter=kwygant&id=41

He also gets free beer for a year! Hope he shares!

Build Your Empire!

The AHA’s club only competition for September/October 2008 is Imperial Anything. To make the deadline, everyone should begin brewing NOW (or, if you have a cellared big beer, save at least three or four for the September deadline).

The way it could work would be this:

  1. The club’s members bring their Imperial beers to the September Rock Hoppers meeting.
  2. Everyone in attendance tastes and judges each beer.
  3. A winner is decided.
  4. That winner’s beer is sent to Michigan to be judged there.
  5. If our club member’s brew places, we get points toward Brew Club of the Year!

Entries are due 10/11/08 and judging will be held 10/18/08. Entry fee $7 (make checks payable to AHA).

Hosted by Fred Bonjour and the Clinton River Association of Fermenting Trendsetters (C.R.A.F.T.) of Macomb Township, MI, this competition covers any beer style that has been imperialized. Entries will be judged to BJCP Category 23 Specialty Beer, so entrants must include information about what they have done. The competition is not about the biggest beer, it is about a bigger beer done right.
