Attention fellow Hop growers!!! Get your hops tested for AA% here…

Hoppers,

Via Tech Talk I got in touch with a brewer that sent me a link for HOPS ANALYSIS FOR ALPHA and BETA ACID CONTENT. At $24 it’s remarkably inexpensive to get done.

Here is a link and some of the info from the site:

http://www.brewlaboratory.com/

BrewLaboratory is offering a High Performance Liquid Chromatographic (HPLC) analysis of your whole leaf or pellet hops for:

Alpha Acid % (cohumulone and adhumulone + humulone)

Beta Acid % (colupulone and adlupulone + lupulone)

Cohumulone % (% cohumulone contributes of the total Alpha Acid %)

At minimum, the Alpha Acid content is needed to use hops for bittering beer. The Beta acid content is especially useful for determining how the beer will age. The analysis can also aid in identifying unknown hops varieties.

We will analyze your hops for $24.00 per sample with payment through PayPal with a credit card, a PayPal account, or with a check or money order.

Rock Hoppers Famous ONCE AGAIN!!!

The AHA has a new website and while thumbing throught it I found in the forum section under “CLUBS” some of our ugly mugs staring back from NHC Clubnite!

I’m thinking we made an impression at NHC…

Greg Noonan has passed away

On October 11, Greg Noonan – founder of The Vermont Pub and Brewery and beer author – passed away in his sleep after battling cancer.

A homebrewer from the very beginning, in 1988 Noonan started Vermont’s first craft brewery with his business parter Steve Polewacyk. The venue celebrated its 20th anniversary in late 2008.

Perhaps more important, however, was Noonan’s writing. His most famous work was his first – Brewing Lager Beer: The Most Comprehensive Book for Home- and Microbrewers – but he also penned “Scotch Ale,” “Seven Barrel Brewery Brewers’ Handbook: A Pragmatic Guide to Home Brewing,” and “New Brewing Lager Beer” over the years.

On behalf of the homebrewing community, allow us to say that you’ll be missed, Greg.
