DON’T let your dog eat hops

Hops are potentially fatal to dogs.

I was brewing an ESB this weekend and dropped about 1oz of hops on the ground. I had extra hops so I kicked the dropped ones into the rocks. Later that day my 1 year old lab mix dug them out of the rocks and ate some. Two hours later she was panting heavily and acting generally sick. By the time we got her to the vet her temperature was too high for their thermometer to read (so at least 108 degrees). We found the links below which provided the recommended treatment and were able to find some of the necessary drugs in Littleton.

It looks like she’ll be ok but she is spending her second night at the vet tonight.

I’m trying to decide whether the ESB will be called. It will be either:

“ESB 2350” <–Where $23.50 will be about the cost per bottle for the brew

or

“Hot Dog ESB”

So don’t let your dog eat hops.

Humor for the Day

A female police officer arrests a man for drunk driving.

She tells the man, “Sir, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be held against you.”

    The drunk says, “Tits”.
