1st GABF

So, I made it through my first GABF.  Four setup sessions, two pouring sessions and one drinking session.  Whew, what a good time!  Good folks, good beer, lots of fun, what more can you ask for?

So, lessons learned….Saturday afternoon session == good.  Saturday evening session == not so good…(too many drunk college kids and too many good beers gone).

Next year I will definitely be going to the Saturday afternoon session.

Favorite new beers tried…

1) Fifty Fifty – Concentrated Evil (Belgian Dark Strong)

2) Minneapolis City Brewery – Three Hour Tour (Stout, kinda)

3) New Glarus – Belgian Red (Cherry Sour Beer)

There were others that I’m having trouble recalling (for some strange reason), but those are the three that stuck out the most…

Biggest disappointment, Sam Adams Utopia.  If you are a bourbon lover you would like it, me, I didn’t care for it too much…

Landscaping Material

Fellow Hoppers-

For our Hop Yard at the Rockyard we’ll need some landscaping material. I am one to believe we can build what we need for little to no money.

Keep you eye’s out for Material such as:

-Rail Road Ties (First choice)

-Large retaining wall blocks (if we use these we’ll need apporx. 120 of them)

Places to look…Craigslist, Local listings, neighbors, etc.

I’ll continue to look for these materials as well. Hopefully we’ll be able to find what we need so we can get this project rolling.

Post your finds and or if help is needed to pick up the goods.

Thanks for your help,

Torture

I just have to say that I find it painful to have a countdown to the tapping of the BBRIS.

Is there anyway to make the clock countdown any faster?
