Hoppers Clean Up Dredhop, Geiger Wins BOS!

Congratulations are in order to for your fellow hoppers who cleaned up at the 2009 Dredhop competition!

A BIG contratulations to Greg Geiger who won Best of Show with his Chase’s Grit Imperial Stout (named after his grandson). Greg will be brewing Chase’s Grit at Mountain Sun later this year.  He also nabbed third place in the BOS round with his Fruity Saison.  Not too shabby.

Another notable win was Kelly and Jason Kruegel’s first place finish in the German Wheat and Rye Beer category with their Drunken Uncle Weizen-Dunkel – the first Hopper Dunkelweizen to place in a show this year, making it eligible for the Rockyard pro-am entry.

2009 National Homebrew Competition First Round – Save Dates

FYI – let’s get involved. This is the BIG ONE!

All,
I have been asked to direct the first round of the National Homebrew Competition for the Old West region again this year. I am asking you all to volunteer to judge or steward for this event. Please mark your calendars for the weekends of 4/17 and 4/25. We will most likely complete the judging the weekend of 4/17 and won’t need the weekend of 4/25, however I would like you to reserve both these weekends at this point until we have the logistics finalized.

Also, we are considering 1 of 2 locations for the judging. Either in Denver again like last year, or possibly in Longmont at the new Oskar Blues facility. I would like to receive your feedback if you’re planning to volunteer and if so, if you have a preference on the location. Just reply back to me.

Let me know if you have any questions. There will definitely be more information to come, however want you all to mark your calendars now so you’ll be available to help us with this!!

Thank you!! Hoppy New Beer!!

Fixari or Scott – please share this information with KROC.
Deborah – please share this information with Hop Barley
Brian Mertz – please share with the Fort Collins and Wyoming clubs
