Hoppers Clean Up at Big Beers, Belgians, and Barleywines – Another BOS for Geiger!

Congrats to the winners at this year’s Big Beers, Belgians, and Barleywines festival. Special congrats to Greg Geiger who won Best of Show with his Chase’s Grit Russian Imperial Stout!

Other Hoppers winners include:

  • Kelly Kruegel – silver with her MMMM…Boobies English Barleywine

The Session Challenge – Brew Your English Browns Now!

If you would like to take part in the February Club Only Competition, The Session Challenge – English Brown Ales (BJCP Category 11), make your plans to brew in early January!

The club will be judging beers for our entry during the February 11, 2010 meeting.

BJCP Study Group returning 9/30/09

The study group will kick off again for our upcoming May 15, 2010 BJCP Exam. Location to be determined. If you are interested in joining the group, please use the Contact tab on my profile (http://www.rockhoppersbrewclub.com/users/kruegelk) to get on the group list.

Classes will be weekly on a Tuesday or Wednesday depending on availability of the group members and will not occur on the week of the club meeting.

Cost for the classes will range depending on the beer tasted during each study session, average is $7-$15 per class, though sometimes the amount could be a bit more.

You do not need to attend every class to participate, though your chances of success on the BJCP exam will be greatly increased with the group study. Location for the study group will rotate between houses of those taking the class (unless your significant other vetos our presence).

The club is hosting a BJCP exam on May 15, 2010. Reply to me kruegel.kelly@gmail.com if you are interested in taking the test and/or interested in participating in the study group. Further details will follow, but please get this on your calendar if interested. Space will be limited and we are taking examinees from outside the club.
