BEER FEST!
Hey all, yep, it’s that time again! Time for the winter beer fet at the smith household in Castle Rock. It’ll be Dec 13th, a sat, at 7pm. For those of you not familiar with these, ehre’s the details.
Everyone brings 2 sixpacks ( though from you all, i expect equivelent amt of homebrew) For non-brewers I ask for fall / winter brews ( though not everyone gets this ) for you all, whatever you got going is fine. Food, tasting cups, and of course a cake from the resident cake decorator!
For all of us that didn’t make it to the GABF, or who just want another shot at a similar event this is it! we have plenty of room for anyone that can’t drive after the festivities, and it should be a good time! please RSVP as soon as you can to firefighter083@comcast.net or 720-229-0334 so we can be sure to have enough of everything. If things go well, i’ll have a vanilla porter, a pomegranite wheat, and a hard apple cider on tap!
Hope to see you here!

Bourbon Barrel II – The Empire Strikes Back
UPDATE
Unfortunately, the burbon barrel that Jason so lovingly took care of for months has a mold issue. Instead of housing beer, this barrel is destined to be furniture.
On the upside, the project is still moving forward. We’ll be using the same barrel that we have now once it gives up the Baltic Porter it currently is housing in March 2009. We’ll have an imperial stout just in time for the 2009 holiday seaon!
——————————————-
Get ready – the bourbon barrel is back!
As discussed in our meeting on November 13, 2008, Kelly and Jason Kruegel have a bourbon barrel that is just longing to house 55 gallons of brew. What to put in it?
An Imperial Stout.
Sign up below if you are willing to contribute a brew session to this cause.
Indicate in a comment to this post how many gallons you will contribute. Remember, Russian Imperials are BIG beers, so plan on a bit more $$ for this one. On the upside, it’ll be a BIG beer aged in an oak barrel!
Greg Geiger will coordinate the recipe formulation.
Let’s build an Empire!
Vashé zdorov’ye!
