Save the Date May 2 Big Brew Day / Beer Dinner

Details will be forthcoming. We are looking to have it at the Rockyard the same as last year – anticipated start time is around 8:00 a.m. Toast to the Big Brew day is at 11:00 a.m. (12 CST). Beer recipes are up and are a Saison and a Dark English Mild (the DRY DOCK’s AWARD WINNING Recipe).

On the Big Brew web site, it is suggested to hold a special beer dinner in conjunction with the event. I think this is an excellent idea. So, I am officially setting a Beer Dinner for May 2, 2009 to be held after completion of the Big Brew. We’re looking at a start time of 6:30 which should allow plenty of time for completion of the Big Brew day. Details for that will also be forthcoming.

As one of the brews for the Big Brew is a Saison, the beer dinner will focus on Saison (and if necessary expand to other Belgian styles). I picked Saison because it’s easier to find and probably a bit more condusive to cooking than a Dark Mild.

Jason and I would be more than happy to host the event at our house, or we are certainly open to alternative accommodations. Here’s my suggestion as to how it will work, but please chime in your 2 cents worth on how we can make this better.

Geoff will get a sign up list going along with the Big Brew sign up list. If you like to cook, you can volunteer to bring a dish that would be complimentary to a Saison/Belgian style. If you don’t like to cook, you can just bring Saison (or other Belgian beer if Saison selection is limited). We’ll look for volunteers for appetizers, soup/salad, main dish, sides, and dessert. I will pick up the cooking slack anywhere it’s needed (because I love to cook).

Sound like fun to everyone?
