Snake River Brewing of Lander, WY, an established 7 bbl brewpub (Pub system) is transitioning to new owners and is seeking an experienced head brewer.   This is a one person operation brewing approx 500 bbls per year, serving a fine dining restaurant, pub and the Lander Bar. http://www.landerbar.com     Lander is a charming central Wyoming town, headquarters of the National Outdoor Leadership School and home to world-class outdoor activities such as: rock climbing, fishing, hunting, hiking and biking. The ideal candidate will be able to brew, filter and keg the existing line up as well as formulate new beers, provide education to staff and customers, host beer dinners, give tours and “cover all the bases”. This is not a start-up and a high standard will need to be maintained.   Please send cover letter and resume to: chris@snakeriverbrewing.com    Chris Erickson Director of Brewing Operations Snake River Brewing Company www.snakeriverbrewing.com

Big Brew – Brew 10,000 Inspired Crazy Beer

I wanted to give everyone a separate heads up about our Brew 10,000 inspired crazy beer we’ll be doing at our house for big brew day – see the big brew post for other details on the actual event.

Approximately two years ago, Rogue’s head brewer said style be damned and decided to put all of his “favorite ingredients” into one beer and see how it turned out. It was delicious, so we’re using that as inspiration.

Here are the details: Every person who wants to participate needs to bring one thing to put in the beer. Please comment below (or on the big brew string) so we know you are participating, but do not tell what you are bringing before hand. It should be something you like in your beer. Ie; hops, speciality grains, adjuncts, whatever.

We’ll brew 5 gallons and will tap at some upcoming Rock Hoppers event. This is for us to drink, not for NHC. The only restrictions on what you can bring are 1) no brett/funk containing items and 2) nothing you wouldn’t actually want to put in a beer (I’ll trust your judgment on that one). We’ll likely use a neutral ale yeast, like nottingham, if that affects anyone’s choices.

Rally

Had a blast seeing folks at the Rally last evening. It was a good reminder that New Belgium makes some really tasty beers that aren’t always available. The special part of the evening occurred when I found sponge bob square pants in the tile mosaic around the mast tun!! He looked a little tipsy! Hope to see lots of Hoppers throughout the course of the next two weekends, Happy Brew Days to all!!

Homebrewing Survey from Auburn University

From AHA Director Gary Glass:

Dear AHA Members,

The American Homebrewers Association is assisting an Auburn University study on homebrewing as a “Serious Leisure Pursuit” in the United States.

In the interest of getting the most representative and reliable the data we can, we encourage as many homebrewers as possible to participate in the study by filling out a brief survey. Please read [the] informational letter pertaining to the research and if you agree to participate, you can click through to the anonymous online survey.

Your participation is entirely voluntary. Total time commitment is approximately 15 minutes and there are no known risks associated with participating in this study. The survey delivery software will not collect email or IP addresses and/or any other identification markers.

The survey site will remain open through April 30, though we would greatly appreciate it if you could complete the survey in a timely manner.

Please feel free to forward this message on to any other homebrewers you know.

Results from the study will be posted on the AHA website and to the AHA TechTalk forum once they have been compiled.

Thank you for supporting this study.
