Campers!
*The level 2 fire ban in Chaffee County has been downgraded to a level 1!!*
Fire danger has come down from “extreme” to “very high” to just “high”.
This means that outdoor smoking is now allowed, but I would still urge all
smokers to use a metal container to dispose of butts. This also means that we
could have a campfire INSIDE of a metal fire pit with a screen. Does anyone
have one of those to bring?
Kids and DDs in the festival? Both are allowed. There is a playground at
the park. There are concessions. There is a river to beware of for tots. I
believe there is a reduced rate admission for DDs, but don’t know how much,
who can partake of the Root Beer that several breweries offer, as can the
children.
Next topic is…* Trash.*
We have no way to dispose of our trash other than hauling it out. We will
have 100 people or so. So here’s my thoughts on ways to reduce it:
1) /Leave it home/. Remove any excess packaging from items before you
leave. New flashlight in one of those big plastic overkill packages for
instance.
2) /Take it home/. Innocuous clean trash, such as plastic and glass
beverage bottles, that can be recapped and stowed back in your vehicle.
3) /Reuse beer bottles/. We will have some boxes to put home brew bottles
in once emptied. People can take them home.
4) We will have a /recycling container/ for other glass and plastic waste.
It will be green (Get it?) and located in the beer tent.
5) We will have a /trash container /for all other trash. It will be by the
kitchen tent. Lets try and keep it reasonable. Think before tossing it
in here.
6) Heading to 7-11 for a Gator-Ade? See if you can grab a small amount of
trash and give it to 7-11 while you are there.
Some people will drink beer, get drunk, and throw trash into the recycling…
or vice-versa.
Laugh at them and hurt them, so they stop.
If anyone on this list did not get the original Salida email I sent (The
schedule of events, what to bring, what not to bring, etc.), please reply to
only me and I will forward it.
Michele
