The Summer Buddy Brew for 2026 was a Single Malt and Single Hop (SMaSH) beer competition. Teams were able to choose the single malt and hop variety they wanted to use to make a beer style of their choosing.
The beers were then served at the Rock Hoppers Brew Club summer picnic. The variety of beers produced by the participants was impressive, especially with a SMaSH beer competition. They made for excellent beverages to enjoy at the picnic.
The winners of this year’s Summer Picnic Buddy Brew SMaSH beer competition were:
- First place – Jordan and Joey for their Kolsch (Rahr Pilsner malt and Hallertau Mittelfrüeh hops).
- Runners-up – Geoff H. and Matt L. for their Rotbier (Gambrinus Mars malt and Saaz hops).
