Congratulations to Kjell Wygant, RHBC President!
Kjell was woken from a nap today by a phone call from our friends at Boulder Beer. He has won Best of Show for this year’s Goatshed Revival with his Saison. He’s heading to Boulder this Sunday to brew a big batch with the brewer and it should be on tap in their tap room mid-August… hmmmm, sounds like a Hopper road trip.
This isn’t the first time either, the photo of Kjell on the right is the man himself taking a sip of his winning stout entry brewed by Dry Dock brewing in Aurora.
Here’s a link to his recipe: http://logs.rockhoppersbrewclub.com/index.php?page=brewBlogDetail&filter=kwygant&id=41
He also gets free beer for a year! Hope he shares!

2008 GOATSHED REVIVAL HOMEBREW COMPETITION
Calling all homebrewers! Submit your finest in a competition to be this year’s very limited-edition, commemorative beer to tap at Boulder Beer’s GOATSHED REVIVAL!
What the heck is the Goatshed Revival, you ask?
In 1979, two homebrewing CU professors were granted the 43rd brewing license in U.S. History and a brewing revolution began in Colorado. They set up their original brewhouse in a goatshed north of Boulder and called themselves Boulder Beer Company, so it only seemed fitting to call our annual anniversary celebration The Goatshed Revival! To celebrate our 29th Anniversary this year and to help to raise money for Boulder’s Community Food Share, Boulder Beer Company is hosting our GOATSHED REVIVAL on Saturday, August 23rd, from Noon – 7pm. The Goatshed Revival will take place in, around, and outside of Boulder Beer Company, 2880 Wilderness Place, Boulder, Colorado. There will be live music from an outdoor stage, dancing, auction items, brewery tours, and of course, brewery-fresh draft beer in the beer gardens!
So what does this have to do with homebrewing? Every year, the brewers at Boulder Beer Company brew a very limited-edition, commemorative beer to tap at the Goatshed Revival. This year, to celebrate their founders’ roots as homebrewers, they are inviting you to give it your best shot. The winner will receive an invitation to brew their beer with two of Boulder Beer’s brewers on the weekend of July 27th, and have it served as the commemorative beer at the Goatshed Revival.
Here’s the scoop:
Submit 3 bottles per entry. All beer styles are welcome; however, we are working with a 4-1/2 week window. As much as we’d love to sample your 13% Belgian, we won’t have the time to brew and age it within this time period.
Please include your name, phone number, style and description of your beer on each of your bottles.
Deliver your entries to Boulder Beer Company at 2880 Wilderness Place, Boulder, CO 80301.
Deadline for entries is Friday, July 18th, at 5:00pm.
All entries will receive a coupon for one free beer at the Goatshed Revival.
The winner will receive FREE BEER FOR A YEAR from Boulder Beer Company (1 case per month for 12 months).
Winner will be announced on July 23rd.
This is not a professional competition, homebrewers only, please.
This is a subjective competition. The brewers and staff of Boulder Beer Company will be selecting our winner.
Any questions, contact Mike Memsic or Chris Coyne at the brewery at 303-444-8448 x25.
